Hello Fellow Nature-Lovers!
My name is Nicole, and I’m a 21-year-old living with Lyme Disease in Victoria, BC. I’m part of the Victoria Lyme support group. We are hosting a community-awareness event called “Let’s Talk About Lyme” on Saturday May 10th in Victoria. Our focus will be how to prevent Lyme disease (crucial for people who love the outdoors, like us!), learn about symptoms & co-infections, what to do if you suspect the infection and how to go about seeking treatment.
We have some dynamic speakers lined up including Elizabeth May MP, Murray Rankin MP, Gwen Barlee, a Lyme activist, Jim Wilson of the CanLyme Foundation and several Lyme disease patients sharing their story, including myself. I’m looking forward to the awesome kids games and activities, hearing from Wild Arc and local naturopaths.
I was wondering if you could let your members know about this awareness event, in the hopes that we can help educate people at high-risk for tick-borne diseases?

Fairfield Community Place @ 1335 Thurlow Road (behind Moss St. Market)
Saturday, May 10, 2014 from 12-3pm (speakers begin at 1:00pm)
Although I use a wheelchair due to Lyme disease for the past 5 years, I used to spend all my free time exploring our beautiful parklands, and our own heavily-wooded property. I want to ensure no one else has to suffer with this terrible infection, and the difficulty of getting a diagnosis and treatment. Education is key!
Thank you so much. I’m hoping you can share with your members in the Victoria area and attend this event yourselves. Please feel free to share this event with friends and family; we have an event on Facebook too!
